I hate to disagree with Mr. Howland, but your MS6195 board uses the AMD Irongate chipset and thus you need AMD drivers, not VIA. Now concerning the AGP drivers, I do own a K7 system with a K7M and would like to first state that the AMD drivers work well here with no problems, I'm using the latest ones BTW. you've got to use the AMD AGP drivers to make sure you get all the performance there is from the chipset and graphics card!

As soon as I installed the AMD driver pack, (which for W2k is just the AGP Filter v5.22), 3D mark locks up within 0-2 seconds into the first test. I have reformatted and tried different combos of drivers all, with the same result, as soon as the AMD drivers are installed, 3DMark doesn't work.

I am a bit confused though - I have been variously advised to install the VIA drivers and the AMD drivers - what is the difference? I have now installed both (I think!) - is that OK? The next step in installing my new graphics card is to uninstall the old graphics drivers and other software.

Optimizing gameplay with KG7R
The reason to install AMD's miniport driver and not VIA's AGP driver is simply that the AD11 uses the AMD 761 northbridge and not one from VIA. If you want to be safe and uninstall the VIA driver and add the AMD driver, I would first change the graphics driver for your AGP card to "Standard VGA",

Setup W2K first, then SP2 and finally AMD driver pack. That's all you need. You can install VIA IDE Busmaster drivers if you want to. Get the latest drivers for your graphics card and remember to install DirectX also. You should consider getting a bigger (at least 300 W) power supply. Sami "Steve & Fay Treeby"
